Meet one of the mermaids we found in the water today while snorkeling. Come on out and join us on the Kai'Oli'Oli! Always a beautiful day viewing our island from afar. Those views never get old. Just a little snack break for our endemic Hawaiian monk seal. I can say I have only seen this a few times in all my years out here. They eat a wide variety of reef creatures — certain fish, eels, and in this case a day octopus is my assumption. Never know what kind of magic is going to happen on the Kai'Oli'Oli! This is Shaka Shane — also known as Mr. President, also known as our Fearless Leader — the President of Ocean Joy Cruises, who joined us on the water today. An adorable baby dolphin has been gracing us with its presence out on the water lately — a new addition to our resident Hawaiian Spinner Dolphin ohana. Ocean Joy saw so many Hawaiian green sea turtles on the water today. These peaceful Honu often greet snorkelers just to say aloha. Today we spotted a pod of indigenous Hawaiian Spinner "Mermen" — okay, we mean Dolphins — though the snorkeling merman among them was pretty cool too. The land of Aloha, the land of Love. Ocean Joy was honored that Benjamin chose the Kai 'Oli'Oli as the place to propose to his love, Courtney. Aren't these ladies just havin' the BEST time?! Our dolphin friends sure seem to be enjoying themselves too. If Japan is the Land of the Rising Sun, then Ko Olina must be the Land of the Setting Sun — blessed year-round with amazing sunsets dipping into our Hawaiian waters. Happy New Year!
